Profiles

A Profile is a structured summary of your skills, experience, education. You can think of it as a structured form of a Resume or CV and in fact, often starts its life from one of these documents, for example, as part of the onboarding process to your organisation, a staff members resume may be used to complete their TalentedTeam profile.

The profile has four key parts, the Summary, Experience, Skills and Education as described below.

Summary

The Summary section has two parts. The headline and the summary text. This section is intended to provide a quick summary level introduction to yourself. The title should describe your job title, qualification or role. The summary is a snapshot of your skills and experience. This section should be seen to be the first introduction yourself and should be used to sell the profile owners talent.

To edit the summary, click the edit icon at the top right of the Summary section.

Some tips on authoring a good summary include:

  1. Tailor the headline and summary to the audience. If you are planning to use the profile for a specific purpose, make sure the information is tailored to sell the most appropriate attributesĀ of the profile owners skills and experience.
  2. Keep it short and concise. The summary text should only be a few paragraphs long. Most people will only scan the first parts so be sure to be conciseĀ and on point.
  3. First Impressions. First impressions can last so make sure you use this section to sell yourself as this will be the first part your audience will read. A poor intro will impact the reader’s perception of the rest of the profile.

Experiences

Experiences list each of your work experiences. Each experience has the following main sections:

  • Organisation: This is the organisation or company who you worked for this experience, eg. RoarEnergy
  • Title: The title describes your role or job title, eg. Project Manager or Account Manager.
  • Location: The location is optional and describes the location that you worked for this job, eg. Melbourne, Australia
  • Start Date / End Date: These fields define the period in which you were working on this job. If you are still working at this job, you can choose “(current)”.
  • Description: This is a detailed description of what you did on this job. It is a good idea the split your description up into the following sections.
    • Introduce the company or the project so people instantly understand what you were working on and what the project or company were trying to achieve. It sets the scene for your experience.
    • Describe your specific role including your responsibilities and duties.
    • Describe your achievements. What did you do that you were proud of and that made a difference?
  • Summary: This is a shorter form description that is used on some single page or short form profile templates. This section is optional. If it is not filled in, the system will try to automatically create a summary by using the first paragraph of the Description field.

Education

The education section lets you list all of your qualifications. Use this section to list education such as university degrees, certifications or training. Click the add icon to add a new Education item. Fill in the following fields:

  • Organisation: This is the education or training provider. eg. Monash University.
  • Title: This is the title of the degree, certification or training, eg. Electrical Engineer or Scrum Master Certification.
  • Start / End Dates: Describe when you completed this education.

Skills

Skills list all of the different types of skills you have. Each time you add a skill, you are added to the taxonomy of talent for this skill in your organisation. To add a skill, click the add icon next to the Skill title.

To specify a skill, simply type the skill you want to enter. You will be prompted with a list of skills that have already been added to TalentedTeam for your organisation. Pick from an existing skill or choose to add a new skill. It is best to choose from an existing skill if you can.

One your profile page, you can use the 5 stars to determine your level capability for each skill. 5 stars mean you are a guru of the highest level in your organisation. 1 start means you have some experience but are still learning.
